A histopathological study of Endometrial Curettage in cases of Infertility in Females.

This study was carried out to observe the histological pattern of endometrial biopsy in 100 cases of infertility reporting to the obstetrics and Gynecology Department , CMH, Lahore. The dilatation and curttage was carried out in the second phase of menstrual period. The histological study of the endometrial tissue revealed evidence of ovulation and secretary phase in 72% females while 12% had proliferative phase which was not consistent with last menstrual period. About 8% of women showed chronic nonspecific inflammation and only 2% revealed evidence of tuberculous endometritis. The non-secretory cystic (simple) hyperplasia was diagnosed in 3% cases. In conclusion, most of endometrial biopsies revealed secretary endometrium in this series. Hormonal disturbance with proliferative ednometrial tissue and simple hyperplasia was observed in some cases. However, the frequency of tuberculosis was low in our women.
