Outcomes and prospects of Myringoplasty in children.
Pak J Otolaryngol Jan ;22(2):39-41.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the surgical and functional results of myringoplasty in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifty cases were operated for myringoplasty. Underlay technique was used through post aural approach using temporalis fascia as graft. Pre-operative and post operative audiograms were taken and air bone closure was measured in all cases. RESULTS: Out of the fifty cases studies, 37 tympanic membranes remained intact whereas 13 remained perforated. Ten of successful cases, developed delayed re-perforations during the follow up course. Over all success rate was 54 percent. A significant sensorineural hearing loss was not recorded in any case. CONCLUSION: The results of the procedure are disappointing due to low rate of initial perforation closure and high rates of late failures.
