Aspirin Resistance: An unsettled issue.
Pak J Med Sci Jan ;24(2):189-91.

The issue of aspirin resistance in cardiovascular medicine has been discussed in medical literature since mid-1990s. However, there are several factors awaiting international consensus. Some of the factors include the exact definition of resistance, the specific and sensitive tests for aspirin resistance and the mechanism of resistance. Lack of consensus also makes the assessment of the incidence of aspirin resistance inaccurate. Till such time these issues are settled, the physicians should continue prescribing low-dose aspirin (75-100 mg daily) to high risk cardiovascular disease patients and try to ensure the compliance on the part of the patients as lack of compliance is a major observation responsible for apparent aspirin failure. This is an Editorial.
