Evolution of Deterioration in Renal Function during 30 days of Partial Ureteric Obstruction.
Ann King Edward Med Uni Jan ;7(1):41-3.

Partial ureteric obstruction was created in 17 dogs. Renal function was evaluated for six dogs on 10th day, five on 20th day and six on the 30th day. Before creation of obstruction the mean value for creatinine clearance of left kidney was 51.82 ml/min  7.94. On tenth post operative day the left obstructed kidney function reduced to 18.83 ml/min  7.34. This deteriorated further to 5.26ml  1.95 on Day 20 and 2.94 ml  3.08 on Day 30. The deterioration in function was highly significant on all days as compared to Day 0 (P<0.05). Similarly as compared to Day 10 the fall in renal function was highly significant on Day 20 and 30 (5<0.05). But there was no significant change between Day 20 and Day 30 renal function. Right kidney no obstructed had a mean value of 48 ml/min t 5.20 on Day 0. After the creation of obstruction on left side, the mean creatinine clearance on right side was 52.33 ml/min t 8.56 on Day 10 and later 65 ml/min t 11.61 on Day 20 and 58.92 ml t 5.34 on Day 30. On comparison the right non-obstructed kidney exhibited a statistically significant increase in renal function on Day 20 and 30 as compared to Day 0 and Day 10.
