Incidental Findings in the Liver - An Autopsy Study.

This study comprises of 110 autopsies carried out on medicolegal cases dying of causes unrelated to liver diseases. Most of the cases died of fire arm injury (40%), traffic accidents (22%), head injuries (19%) and stab wound (19%). Their ages ranged between 9 to 80 years. There were 89 males and 21 females. As many as (37%) cases showed different liver diseases and (62.7%) cases had normal livers. Chronic hepatitis 12.7% was the most common lesion followed by cirrhosis 4.5%, fatty change 4.5%, venous congestion 2.7%, tuberculosis 0.9% and non specific reactive hepatitis 10.9%.
