The Relationship between Diabetes and Sensorineural Hearing Loss in Jordanian Adult People.
J Coll Physicians Surg Pak Jan ;10(6):198-9.

Studies on the relationship between diabetes and hearing loss have been controversial. The current study examined this relationship in 1000 Jordanian adult people using data from the military hospitals. Hearing threshold levels were obtained for each participant at the following frequencies 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 6000, Hertz (Hz). The main hearing threshold in diabetics were significantly higher than in nondiabetics at the higher tested frequencies (mainly 4000 and 6000 Hz). The results suggest that correlations between diabetes and decreased hearing acuity are present at high frequencies in diabetics more than in non-diabetics.
