J Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;8-12:573-5.

Between 1992 and 1997 eight patients and eight hips with unilateral dislocation of the hip were operated upon at the Children Hospital of PIMS (Pakistan. Institute of Medical Sciences). The average age of the patients was 6 years and I month. (Range from 3 years to 9 years and 4 months). The average duration of follow-up was 3 years 1 month and range from (1 year to 5 year & 4 months). These patients had no previous treatment of CDH of any .sort. Severins radiographic classification system, Ferguson & Hoivorth rating system, for range of motion leg length discrepancy and development of avascular necrosis were noted. There was one case of AVN, 7 hips were classified good. As regards the radiological appearance and range of motion Limb length discrepancy was not a great problem to the patient. Pembertons acetabuloplasty femoral shortening and varus derotation osteotomy as a one stage procedure is rather an extensive procedure on a small child but we recommend it in selective group of patients.
