Background: Polycystic ovarian disease (Stein- Leventhal Syndrome) is a disorder in which multiple cystic follicles in ovaries produce excess androgens and estrogens. It usually comes to attention after menarche in teenage girls or young women who present with oligomenorrhea, hirsutism, infertility and sometimes obesity. This study has been conducted to assess different management options & level of compliance for polycystic ovarian syndrome. Methods: This was cross sectional study conducted at Tertiary care Governmental Hospital of Islamabad (P.I.M.S) by interviewing female patients coming to Gynecology Department after the sample size calculation. The participants were selected on the basis of their presenting complaints and their age (13-44) and a positive diagnosis from the treating physician. A written consent was taken after proper approval of this study from ethical committee of P.I.M.S Islamabad. Results: Total 139 patients were interviewed during this survey. The mean age of patients was 28. Most of the patients did not know about their disease but most of them were satised with doctors' attitude towards them. About 24 doctors including Faculty members, Post-graduate trainees & House Ofcers were interviewed who were strongly satised (p=0.01). Conclusions: Gynecology Department of P.I.M.S is following international guidelines regarding management of PCOS patients to the best of their abilities despite limited resources and an ever-increasing patient load.
