Closed intramedullary nailing versus dynamic compression plating for femoral shaft fractures in adults (A study of 85 cases).
J Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;7(2)8(1,2):499-504.

In a total of 85 cases of femoral shaft fractures included in this study, we selected 26 cases for closed intra-medullary nailing and 59 for DCP. The results of our study suggest that closed intramedullary nailing is the treatment of choice.for femoral shaft factures. No case of deep wound infection or non-union has been recorded. Patient rehabilitation is early, hospitalization is short, fracture healing response is good. If proper equipments are available, pre-operative assessment and per-operative care is taken, it is safe method for treating femoral shaft fractures.
