Ophthalmol Update Jan ;14(1):82-5.

To assess outcome of resistant CTEV deformity managed by Turco`s Technique. Study Design: The Descriptive case series study was designed at Orthopaedics and Trauma Unit, Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar. Materials & Methods: All 30 cases CTEV admitted to our unit via OPD were included. Complete data i.e. detailed history, presenting complaints, clinical and X-ray findings have been reviewed, the type of anesthesia, duration of surgery, outcome of surgery have been recorded and results have been compiled on pre-structured proforma and data entered into SPSS version 10 and analysed for frequencies and presented in the form of tables and charts. Results: The overall failure and poor results according to Mc Kay Scoring System was 17.38 of postero-medial release for CTEV, except, three patients who had delayed recovery from anaesthesia all patients recovered well. Conclusion: All patients with clubfeet should be started on conservative treatment as soon as possible after birth. Deformities that persist after six months need some type of corrective surgery. Turco`s postero-medial release is quite promising in such cases with about 80% good results in clubfeet resistant to conservative treatment.
