Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder among Internally Displaced Children.

Introduction: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a common reaction to any unexpected traumatic situation. Dealing with children whose vocal abilities are not well developed is most difficult. Art therapy in combination with behavior therapy techniques can be used to redress the wounds of trauma effected children Objectives of the study: To determine the effectiveness of art therapy in combination with behavior therapy technique with PTSD affected internally displaced children. Materials and methods: Children who scored high on PTSD CAQ test were divided into experimental and control groups. Experimental group was treated with art therapy and behavior therapy techniques i.e. deep muscle relaxation technique to assess its effectiveness. Results: Results confirmed that art therapy in combination with behavior therapy technique was effective in treatment of PTSD in internally displaced children. Conclusion: Art therapy in combination with behavior therapy technique proved to be helpful in treatment of PTSD among war affected internally displaced children.
