Laryngeal and Tracheobronchial Foreign Bodies in children.

This study was carried out on 55 patients who were suspected of having foreign body aspiration. Bronchoscopy was done in all cases. The common symptoms were dyspnoea of sudden onset of variable intensity and cough. In 50 patients foreign body was found and removed Maximum number of patients (56%) were between I and 3 years age and male to female ratio was 2.33:1. Most of the patients (74%) were received and treated within first 24 hours of foreign body aspiration. Betel nut (Supari, Chalia) was the cause in majority (56%) of cases and right main bronchus was the commonest site (561/6) of foreign body enlodgement.
