Gorham`s Disease: an Unusual Case of Chylothorax with Unilateral Limb Swelling.
Pak Paed J Jan ;46(3):336-9.

Gorham`s disease is a rare condition of unknown etiology characterized by anomalous proliferation of lymphatic or vascular structures within bone, leading to bone loss or disappearance. The spontaneous resorption of bone is associated with damage to the osseous matrix and lymphatic proliferation, resulting in regional osteolysis. The disease can affect one bone or multiple bones. A diagnosis of Gorham`s disease is established based on a combination of histological, radiological, and clinical features. The cause, prognosis, and treatment of Gorham`s disease remain uncertain. Chylothorax, a complication of Gorham`s disease, has an extremely poor prognosis. We present the case of an 11-year-old boy with severe deformation of the left lower limb bones and bilateral chylothorax. After ruling out neoplastic, traumatic, and infectious causes, we arrived at the diagnosis of Gorham's disease. This report aims to increase awareness of this rare disease and emphasize the importance of prompt diagnosis and introduction of definitive treatment.
