Angio-Access for Haemodialysis: A Review Of Arteriovenous Fistulae.

The surgically created arteriovenous fistula is the preferred method of long term haemodialysis in a chronic renal failure (CRF) patient. During the last 10 years (Oct. 1990 to Oct. 9999) 300 arterio-venous fistulae were created on chronic renal failure patients in the Department of Urology, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Karachi. The article reviews the methods adopted, its technique, results in terms of success rate and immediate and longterm complications of the procedure.
