Pak Postgrad Med J Jan ;34(1):28-32.

Objective: Aim of this to verify the usefulness of inhaled salbutamol in neonates. Study Design: we retrospectively statistically explored a class of 80 clinically managed cases of TTN in NICU at Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi hospital Bahawalpur. They were divided into 2 groups and studied to document the value of inhaled salbutamol. Group-A was on supplementary care, incremental humidified oxygen, and Group 2 was on supplementary care, incremental humidified oxygen plus single standard dose of inhaled salbutamol therapy via ultrasonic nebulizer. Results: TTN bedside clinically respiratory changes i.e. respiratory rate, figures of oxygen saturation, requirement of incremental oxygen, blood gas i.e. PH, PO2, PCO2 and span of hospitalizing were significantly better in group 2 neonates than in neonates of group 1 (P > 0.05) while no mathematical major changes were noted in heart rate, potassium and glucose level (P > .05). Conclusion: Inhaled salbutamol bring together with traditional management was turn out to augment in objective and biochemistry area. We rely on further research with more cases ought to be brought to reveal the efficacy of salbutamol in TTN cases.
