Evaluation of safety profile of herbal tea.

Herbal medicine is the oldest and most widely used form of medicine in the world today. The potential benefits of herbal medicines could lie in their high acceptance by patients, efficacy, relative safety, and cost effectiveness. In view of the present popularity of herbal medicine it seems necessary to overcome obstacles to rigorous research and establish the pharmacological evaluation of herbal medicines. Present study is specifically designed to assess the safety and efficacy of herbal tea frequently used in our society without any pharmacological evaluation. The study was conducted to investigate the effects of herbal tea on biochemical, histological and hematological parameters. Study involved the administration of herbal product for 45 days in 3 different doses and each dose was tested on 7 animals, which was compared with the control group.
