Squamous cell carcinoma of Maxilla - a two years study of cases presenting as growth maxilla.

A two year study on 25 cases of growth maxilla was carried out in Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi. The objectives of the study were, to find out common presenting symptoms, to find out most common histopathologic type and to see the results of different modalities of treatment. Out of 25 patients 20 cases were diagnosed as squamous cell carcinomas. Nasal symptoms were the commonest. 13 patients had resectable growths and were operated followed by radiotherapy (group A), 06 patients with inoperable growths either locally or with cervical lymphadenopathy were offered neoadjuvant chemotherapy with radiotherapy (group B). 01 patient was given palliative chemotherapy (group C). At two years 05 patients out of 13 (group A) were disease free, in group B 01 patient developed recurrence at 06 months and 05 patients had died.
