An analysis was carried out comparing the results of optical urethrotomy alone versus that with self dilatation. Results: The patients were followed up for 6 months. The results showed operative complication in 7.5% patients and delayed complications in 2.5%. With self dilation recurrence was lowered to 5%. Conclusion: In addition to optical urethrotomy, clean intermittent self dilatation is an essential modality for the maintenance of urethral caliber.
