Knowledge & current practice of medical personnel regarding Neonatal hypothermia.

Objective: Hypothermia in neonates is a common and important problem contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. By improving the knowledge and practice of health professionals, regarding the management of hypothermia, morbidity and mortality can considerably be reduced. The objective of the present study was to assess the current status of knowledge and practice among health professional regarding neonatal hypothermia. Material and methods: This study was designed to evaluate the knowledge and practice of helth personnel. Questions pertained to common aspects of hypothermia. Results: 4% were able to define neonatal hypothermia correctly. Clinical manifestations of hypothermia were known to 08%. Discussion: Studies conducted worldwide have revealed the major lacunae in the knowledge and practice of health personnel .Present study was found to be in concordance with the conclusions of the above studies. Conclusion: The knowledge and practice of health personnel in the present study revealed inadequacies that need to be taken care of.
