Management of Penile Trauma.

A prospective study of 40 patients presented with penile trauma admitted through surgical emergency of Mayo Hospital, Lahore during two years is presented. Twenty six patients belong to rural and fourteen to urban area. Fracture shaft of the penis was the commonest injury present in 22.5% of the patients. The rest had burns injury (20%), degloving injury (17.5%), amputation (15%), penetrating injury (10%), zipper injury (7.5%), postcircumcision bleeding (5%) and insect bite (2.5%). Thirty seven patients were operated and three were managed conservatively. There were seven deaths in this series. All had burn injuries of genitalia and body. The average hospital stay was 5 days.
