Med Channel Jan ;5(4):29-30.

A prospective study of 30 patients with small gut perforation due to typhoid was carried out in Khyber Teaching Hospital to determine prognostic factors affecting morbidity and mortality. Delay in reaching the operating table for definitive treatment, operative findings, number of perforations in individual case played a very large part in affecting the course of the disease. Furthermore the emergence of most dreaded complications like faecal fistula and dehiscence` encouraged mortality in many cases.
