Nonketotic hyperglycemic syndrome.
Pak Paed J Jan ;34(1):48-50.

The nonketotic hyperglycemic syndrome is rare in pediatric population, associated with significant mortality. This syndrome is characterized by severe hyperglycemia, a marked increase in serum osmolality and dehydration without accumulation of B-hydroxybutyric acid or acetoacetic acid and acetone. We report an unusual case of NKHS in a female infant who has severe hyperglycemia in association with gastroenteritis.
