Family Planning myths and facts.
Med Channel Jan ;4(2):21-6.

The prevalence of different methods of birth spacing was assessed in a group of a group of women attending the ante natal clinic and those admitted in the post natal ward by the help of a questioner. The results show that 61 % of women, had no knowledge about different methods available for contraception. Results also showed that 70% of women had their last deliveries at a major tertiary hospital. But only 14% were given any post-natal advice about contraception. Farnily planning workers were the source of motivation for contraception in only 16% of women. It is therefore, concluded that their is a great dearth of public awareness about the different methods of birth spacing. Role of family planning workers, institutions and doctors need to be evaluated for the effective implementation of family planning programmes in Pakistan.
