Procedures for developing a medical research study.
J Rawal Med Coll Jan ;15(1):62-4.

For making any decision one cannot trust, all the time, the experience or sixth sense or hunch or good luck. Some of the problems can be simple and solved easily. Some problems of difficult nature may require time and effort to investigate and find solution. Yet other problems can be complex requiring research through a study to arrive at a proper solution. To know about the causes of some of the medical problems and to find out their proper solution one has to go for thorough investigation/research. Research, in any field, has primary importance for survival and progress of a nation. As compared to many other developing countries, Pakistan is lagging much behind even in the field of medical research. Reasons for that is not lack of managerial skill, knowledge about data analysis for research, resources, data/information or intelligent and experienced medical experts. The main reasons are lack of motivation and team work. Our medical experts have enough managerial skill to conduct a research study provided they spare time to provide valuable guidance to members of their team. Findings of research studies help to make much wiser decisions. Tools developed through research studies can be very useful for timely and effective public awareness.
