Effect of calcium channel blocker `diltiazem` on blood lipids in diabetic and hypertensive patients.
Pak J Pathol Jan ;7(4):39-43.

Diabetic patients have disturbed lipid metabolism which can be further affected by use of diuretics (thiazides and loop diuretics) and beta blockers as antihypertensives. In this study the effect of calcium channel blocker, diltiazem, was studied on blood lipids (total cholesterol and triglycerides) in diabetic, hypertensive and control subjects. The diltiazem was found to have no unfavorable effect on blood lipids. It is concluded that the calcium channel blockers can be used safely in diabetic hypertensive patients.
