Retropubic and Transvesical Prostatectomy: A Comparative Study.
Mother & Child Jan ;34(2):69-74.

Forty Patients of suprapubic and retropubic prostatectomy each have been evaluated. There was no significant difference in the mean age of both these groups. The presenting symptoms and the incidence of associated diseases was also compatible. The total amount of blood used was slightly more in retropubic group. The complication rate was more in suprapubic group as wound infection and suprapubic urinary leakage was commonly seen in these patients. The management of the patients with retropubic group was simple and easier due to short duration of bladder irrigation and early removal of urethral catheter.
