Urinary Calculas Disease: A study of 267 cases at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore over 2 years.

During two years, 267 cases of urinary calculus disease were treated at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore. Mean Age was 29 years. Male to female ratio was 3.8:1. Patients involved in heavy work were 42% while 51.5% had sadantory jobs. Family history, of urolithiasis was present in 17.98%. 47.5% had sufficient fluid intake, 44.5% has less fluid Intake while 8% had high fluid intake. Urinary tract infection was found in 31.5% cases. The highest relative causative organism was E. Coli in 50.8% cases. Among 267 cases, 39.7% were of renal stones, 10.49% were ureteric, 47.94% were vesical and 1. 87% were uretheral. Diagnosis was made by ultrasound in 93. 25% cases and on radiology in 80.52% cases. 19.48% cases needed IVP Pain and colic, dysuria, haematuria, fever and frequency were common presenting symptoms. Open operations are still common mode to deal with urinary calculus disease.
