Results of early surgical treatment in fracture of penis.

Objective: Th e objective of this study was to evaluate the results of early surgical treatment in fracture of penis. Design: Prospective study. Sett ing and duration: Surgical Unit of Agency Headquarter Hospital Landikotal Khyber Agency from 1st January 2006 to 31st December 2009. Methodology: Th is prospective study of 10 cases was performed in all patients presented with fracture of penis at Surgical Unit of Agency Headquarter Hospital Landikotal Khyber Agency. All the patients were admitt ed in surgical ward. History and examination were recorded on a proforma. All the patients were operated under general anaesthesia by a sub-coronal circular incision. Results: Th e common age group was 25-30 years. Most of patients presented early and time between injury and presentation ranged from 4 to 16 hours with average time 10 hours. In majority of cases, penile fracture occurred during coitus. In all cases, diagnosis was made clinically and confi rmed during surgical exploration. Hospital stay ranged from 2-3 days. No early complication was seen in any of the case. Late complications was seen in 2 cases, penile curvature in one patient and painful erection in another case. Conclusions: From our study we conclude that early repair of penile fracture is best to achieve full functional and cosmetic result.
