Morganella morganii: a rare cause of Psoas Abscess.

To report a case of psoas abscess caused by Morganella morganii and to discuss surgical and medical treatment of psoas abscess with drainage through patet’s triangle. Morganella morganii is a rare off ending agent of psoas abscess with chronic pyelonephritis, a predisposing factor in our patient. Morganella morganii, a facultative anaerobe, inhabitant of the human gastrointestinal tract, grows on blood agar and Mac-Conkey’s agar. Surgical drainage was performed through patet’s triangle and corrugated drain was placed. Th e patient recovered well with combined surgical and medical treatment. Clinical signs of the patient resolved aft er 2 weeks of treatment.
