Metastatic Medullary Carcinoma thyroid: An Incidental Finding in a patient presenting with Jaundice.
Pak J Surg Jan ;29(1):74-6.

Medullary thyroid carcinoma accounts for 4% of thyroid carcinoma and originates from parafollicular cells, secreting calcitonin and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). Conventional radiographic modalities such as Computerized Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Ultrasonography (U/S), are used for detecting metastasis. However, metastatic disease frequently escapes detection by the above modalities, and patient amy be diagnosed incidentally while being treated for some other disorder. In this paper, we report a case of metastic medullary thyroid carcinoma in a 48 year-old woman who presented with jaundice and was diagnosed incidentally while being treated for choledocholithiaisis.
