Colorectal foreign body.

Introduction: Foreign body rectum is an unusual presentation. Both children and adult occasionally may present with ingestion or insertion of foreign body in gastrointestinal tract. Case Report: We present a very interesting case of two foreigners who presented to our hospital with alleged history of insertion of foreign body in the rectum. Abdominal examination revealed palpable lump in the left iliac fossa. Plain x-ray abdomen showed multiple capsules in all the colon. Th e CT scan of the abdomen revealed multiple capsules which were stuff ed from caecum till rectum. Th ese patients were admitt ed and capsules were retrieved manually. Th e remaining capsules were spontaneously evacuated. On 5th day of admission, a repeat CT scan abdomen and pelvis done which confi rmed on capsule in the abdomen. Conclusion: Rectal foreign body is a rare phenomenon. One would have high index of suspicion to diagnose foreign body in rectum. Foreign body may cause laceration, perforation and other complications.
