Place and Duration of Study: The study was carried out from October 1998 to September 2001 at the department of urology and kidney transplantation, Lahore General Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan. Patients and Methods: A study on 51 cases of renal transplant was carried out to analyze the management of surgical complications. The data collected during hospital admission and follow-up was analyzed and compared with the findings reported in the literature. Results: The complications found were leakage of ureteroneocystostomy, ureterovesical junction stricture and cutaneous lymphatic fistula in 3 (5.8%), 2(3.9%) and 3 (5.8%) patients respectively. Five of them underwent reexploration and 1.9% of mortality was attributed to the surgical complications. Conclusion: Though surgical complications are not life-threatening, surgeons must recognize the impaired wound healing and proclivity to infection characteristic of renal transplant.
