Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) study on dengue among rural and urban areas of Peshawar, Pakistan.

Objectives: To ascertain the knowledge, attitude, and practices of the people about dengue fever among rural and urban areas of Peshawar, Pakistan Methodology: A cross sectional study among rural and urban areas of Peshawar was conducted from July 2013 to December 2013 by random selection. A pre tested self structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Results: Knowledge and attitude were not significantly different among rural and urban population, despite better knowledge component in the urban group. Preventive practices among the two groups proved to be significant only in individual practices (p=0.000) and storage of water with frequent changing of water containers (p=0.013). Conclusion: Our findings suggest need for further information, education and communication programs, especially in rural areas.
