Pak J Surg Jan ;31(2):149-50.

We report an 10-year-old girl who was diagnosed as a unilateral right auditory neuropathy in Mohayl private hospital in south of Saudi Arabia. In the school the teachers noticed that the girl has diffi culty in hearing so she was referred to us, aft er full ENT examination which was normal we referred her to audiology department which identifi ed a profound sensory neural hearing loss in her right ear (CT scan normal). Auditory neuropathy is a condition in which patients have normal outer hair cell function so Oto-acoustic emissions (OAEs) normal and abnormal neural function at the level of the eighth cranial nerve so auditory brainstem response (ABRs) is abnormal.. We report this case because only few cases of unilateral auditory neuropathy have been reported to date.
