Background: Pilonidal sinus is a troublesome disease regarding its recurrence and other complications. Diff erent surgical procedures have been tried till now to get best results in terms of minimizing recurrence rate and patient discomfort. Th e aim of this study was to fi nd out the results of rhomboid fl ap reconstruction procedure for sacrococcygeal Pilonidal sinus disease. Material and methods: We conducted this study on all those patients who presented to our unit with both primary and recurrent sacrococcygeal Pilonidal sinus disease from May 2011- September 2013. Patients with acute suppuration were excluded from the study. All sinus tracts were resected and fasciocutanous rhomboid fl ap was prepared from the gluteal region and closed with a suction drain. Results: Primary healing occurred in all patients except for one patient with recurrence of the disease which was treated with local excision followed by healing by secondary intention. Superfi cial wound infection occurred in six patients which healed uneventfully later on. Five patients presented with numbness at the operation site for which patients were just ensured. Conclusion: Excision and rhomboid fl ap transposition reconstruction is a bett er option for both the primary and recurrent Pilonidal sinus disease in terms of recurrence and other procedure related morbidity.
