An Experience with 228 Cases of Penetrating Keratoplasty.
Pak J Ophthalmol Jan ;12(2):44-51.

This is a retrospective study of 228 penetrating keratoplasties performed in 225 patients at the Department of Ophthalmology, Dow Medical College and Civil Hospital, Karachi, during the years 1984 to 1992. There were 149 males and 76 females. Majority of our patients were in their fifth decade of life. The commonest indication for this procedure was post-infective corneal scar. Sixty-nine patients were one-eyed. The donor buttons were 7.5 mm in size in most patients. Postoperative results are analyzed in terms of graft clarity. Follow-up was very poor. The follow-up ranged from 3 months to 79 months. Postoperative complications were noted. Rejection was the leading cause of our failure.
