Blepharoplasty After Surgical Resection of Basal Cell Carcinoma of Eyelid (A Seven-year experience).
Pak J Ophthalmol Jan ;12(2):52-8.

A retrospective study of one hundred and nineteen cases of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of eyelid operated on between April 1988 and April 1995 was done. incidence and clinicopathological features of these patients showed interesting correlation with different racial groups in Pakistan. Fair complexion races were more affected (40%) and those with dark complexion were the least affected (2.7%). One hundred and eight out of 119 cases were operated on by us. Tumors were resected with 0.5 to 1.0 cm apparently healthy skin margin followed by blepharoplasty by various surgical techniques. Besides the six patients who developed recurrences there were only a few modifiable complications in six months to seven years of follow-up (average: five years). Five of those having recurrences had morphea type of basal cell carcinoma with orbital extension. Ideally Moh`s micrographic surgical facilities should be employed for proper management of basal cell carcinoma.
