Levator Resection: A Feasible Option in Congenital Ptosis with Poor Levator Function.
Pak J Ophthalmol Jan ;17(1):2-7.

26 patients of congenital ptosis were operated upon. 15(58%) were male and 11(42%) female with an average age of 10 years. The ptosis was moderate (3mm) in 6(23%) and severe (>4mm) in 20(77%) patients. The levator palpabrae superioris (LPS) function was 4mm in 12(46%), 3mm in 6(23%) and <2mm in 8131%) patients. The LPS resection was minimum (14 - 17mm) in 3(11%), moderate (18-22mm) in 14(54%) and maximal (>23mm) in 9(35%) patients. 17(65%) patients had a good (with in 1mm of normal) results, 7(27%) had a fair (with in 2mm of normal) result while 2(8%) had an under-correction of more than 2mm which required a frontalis sling procedure. Levator resection is a feasible option and gives good results in patients of congenital ptosis with poor levator function.
