Otogenic intracranial complications: Experience in management at Islamabad.

Experience in management of 32 arses of otogenic intracranial complications at PIMS is presented. In thirty one out of the thirty, two cases there was history of chronic ear disease. CT scan was found to be the most relevant investigation in establishing the diagnosis and follow-up. Cerebellar abscess was the commonest intracranial complication which is different from the previously quoted series in which meningitis was the commonest. A very small percentage of patients were treated conservatively; most underwent surgery - neurosurgical Procedlure taking precedence over the ear surgery. Mortality rate was 13%.
