Pleural Effusion as a Manifestation of Acute Hepatitis A.
Pak Paed J Jan ;41(3):185-7.

Jaundice due to hepatitis A virus is an important health problem of the developing countries. Acute hepatitis A contamination is usually a self-restrained disease in childhood. Hepatitis A virus (HAV) contamination may be in apparent, subclinical, anicteric or icteric. The possibility of having signs and symptoms with HAV contamination is directly associated with age. The main source of transmission is contaminated food and water, as the commonest mode of transmission is trough feco - oral route. Hepatitis A has several uncommon manifestations including relapsing hepatitis A, cholestatic hepatitis, triggering of autoimmune hepatitis A, and extrahepatic symptoms. We report a 5 year old male child who presented to us with viral hepatitis along with plural effusion and minimal ascites on 6th May 2016 at Darul Sehat Hospital, who was then admitted and treated conservatively.
