Acute erosive dermatosis of summer? Pederus Dermatitis.

Fifty patients with typical eruption an no known cause for it were examined by a qualified dermatologist and investigated. Biopsy was done in 10 rather severe cases. Patch tests were done by using standard European patch tests. Results: No case was observed in winter season. Lesions were more common on exposed areas. Face and neck were involved in 45 cases while 5 cases showed involvement of arms. The lesions were asymterical, often linear erythematous and vesciular. Conclusion: A peculiar dermatosis with obscure aetiology was being observed in skin units in Peshawar in Summer. This is the first report of pederus dermatitis in Pakistan.
