Proteus Syndrome: A case report and review of literature.

An eleven-year old patient of Proteus syndrome is described. She had asymmetrical hypertrophy of limbs, macrodactyly, port-wine stain, lymphangioma circumscriptum, epidermal verrucous nevus, subcutaneous masses, cerebriform hyperplasia of the sole and digital exostoses.

CASE REPORT: An 11-year-old girl was brought to Dermatology outpatients in Mayo Hospital Lahore, in March 1997. The girl presented with asymmetrical hypertrophy of limbs and cutaneous nevi. She had a large port-wine stain involving most of the right lower trunk and thigh, hypertrophy of the right leg and both feet with cerebriform hyperplasia of the right sole, asymmetrical macrodactyly on both feet, lymphangioma circumscription on the right upper chest, and a whorled linear epidermal verrucous nevus extending along the right arm to the hand. There was isolated macrodactyly of the right middle finger [Fig.4] and soft multiple subcutaneous masses in the left forearm. X-rays of the feet and right lower limb showed hypertrophy of long and small bones and digital exostoses. Radiographs of the skull and chest were normal, as was the eye examination. The parents had a consanguineous marriage. There was no family history of any such disorder or other dermatological condition.
