Sellar and Supra-Sellar Tumors.

During the course of 2-1/2 years 280 patients with brain tumors were operated and among them 50 patients had sellar and suprasellar tumors. Among these 50 patients, pituitary adenomas were 38 (76 %), craniopharyngiomas 7 (14 %), meningioma and glioma 2 (4 %) each and germinoma one (2 %). The age ranged from 2 - 65 years and there were 30 (60 %) male and 20 (40 %) female patients. Deterioration of vision was present in 76 % and headache in 68% patients. Clinically evident endocrinopathies were present in 56 % of patients (short staturedness, obesity and hypogonadism) .Among the pituitary adenomas 57.9 % were non - functioning and 42.1% were the functioning adenomas.
