Nifedipine a Calcium channel blocker was administered to diagnosed hypertensive patients in a dose of 10 mgs three times a day. Its effects on serum lipids were estimated. The serum LDL Cholesterol before treatment was 131.09125.12 and serum LDL-cholesterol after 12 weeks of treatment was 113.21f19.62, P>0.05 thus showing that Nifedepine does not adversely effect serum lipid profile, rather may have a beneficial effect.
