Frequency and Effects of Bell\'s Palsy in Multigravida of 3rd Trimester.

Aims & Objective: the objective of this study is to determine the frequency of Bell’s palsy in multigravida of 3rd trimester and evaluate the effects of Bell’s palsy. Methodology: This was observational study in which 244 multigravida females of 3rd trimester were taken for data collection at the department of physiotherapy and gynecology of Fatima Memorial Hospital Lahore, Rashid Latif Hospital, Lahore and DHQ Hospital, Kasur. the data collection had been done within 3 months after the approval of synopsis. the data of all the multigravida of 3rd trimester was taken through selfmade questionnaire and the patients who were suffering from Bell’s palsy and Sunny brook facial grading system was used to evaluate Bell’s palsy in females. SPSS version 22 was used to analyze the data. Results: Out of total 224 multigravidas of 3rd trimester, Majority of females were expecting 3rd time i.e. 45.5%(n=111) and (22.1%(n=54) were conceiving 2nd time, 32.4%(n=79) who were conceiving 4th time or so on, females were suffering from Bell’s palsy out of 111, 54, and 79, 9(3.7%), 6(2.5%) and 9(3.7%) respectively. Conclusion: According to this study it is concluded that the frequency of Bell’s palsy is significantly higher in multigravida of third trimester. This study will be beneficial to increase awareness concerning Bell’s palsy in pregnant females. Though following this study, the patients will not associate Bell’s palsy with stroke.
