Rare Presentation of Breast Carcinoma as a Sub-Clavicular Nodule.
J Fatima Jinnah Med Uni Jan ;11(1):65-7.

Breast cancer is rare in an early age group i.e. before the age of 31. The most common presentation of breast carcinoma is that of a lump of variables sizes with or without palpable lymph nodes. Nevertheless, ectopic breast cancer predominantly present as an axillary lump with or without the involvement of any breast tissue. In this case report we discuss the presentation of a breast CA nodule below the clavicle above the breast tissue i.e. subclavicular nodule which is a rare presentation. The outcome of such a nodule involved the chemotherapy which reduced the lump to the size of its initial presentation, followed by excision of the nodule. The patient then underwent Modified Radicle Mastectomy due to her concerns for recurrence. Ectopic breast cancer has a poor prognosis compared to topic breast cancer because diagnosis generally occurs later, particularly in asymptomatic, aberrant ectopic tissue, since this is not submitted to screening. This case report draws attention to the management plan if the patients are unlikely to come for follow ups. Further the studies add to the pool of scarce cases of presentation of ectopic breast carcinoma in the subclavicular region. Breast CA should be kept in mind as a differential for any nodule that occurs below the clavicle. Even without a strong family history, breast CA can occur in patients below the age of 40.
