Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Face.
Pak J Surg Jan ;18(2):43-7.

A case of Squamous cell carcinoma presenting as a large non heeling chronic ulcer involving major portion of the right side of face is presented. The patient was treated by combination of pre-operative radiotherapy and one stage excision and reconstruction surgery with rewarding results.

Case Report: A 55 year old man presented to general surgical department PNS -SHIFA in April 2001 with the history of a non healing ulcer over the right side of face for the last 6 months which had progressively enlarged to cover almost 2/3 rd of the right half . The lesion had penetrated the full thickness of the cheek wall in the center of the ulcer creating an oro-cutaneous fistula. There was no clinical evidence of local bone involvement, cervical nodal or systemic metastasis. Incision biopsy performed under local anesthesia confirmed the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. A CT-Scan ruled out the bone involvement. Treatment strategy was discussed.
