J Pak Assoc Derma Jan ;12(2):106-9.

ABSTRACT A 60 year old woman presented in the outpatient department of dermatology, Mayo Hospital, Lahore, on 25th March, 2002 with multiple nodules on the left anterior chest wall for the last fifteen years. Initially, it started as a slightly painful nodule on the left anterior chest wall. The lesion was completely excised by a local practitioner. The growth recurred after one month at the same site. Gradually, it increased in size and new nodules appeared in the adjacent area. Six months back, she developed pain in the growth for which she was referred to our department. At the time of her admission, we observed a yellowish-brown, well-defined, firm plaque of uneven surface measuring 12-15 cm in diameter. It was situated on the upper left anterior chest wall extending upto the shoulder joint. There were multiple nodules of variable sizes, ranging from 1-3 cm size, within the plaque. The tumour was slightly tender and fixed to the overlying skin but moveable over the deeper structures. There was no regional lymphadenopathy. The routine laboratory parameters were within normal range. Chest x-ray and abdominal ultrasonography were unremarkable. Biopsy was taken and histopathological examination showed normal epidermis with densely packed monomorphous spindle cells arranged in a storiform pattern throughout the dermis. There was mild pleomorphism and mitotis figures were infrequently present. Grenz zone was not visible. A diagnosis of Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans was made.
