BHAs (Beta Hydroxy acids) in Dermatology.
J Pak Assoc Derma Jan ;12(4):194-6.

During last decade beta hydroxy acids have become as ubiquitous in facial products as fluoride in toothpaste. Salicylic acid being the commonest BHA, has been rediscovered as an effective modality in treatment of various dermatoses including melasma and post inflammatory hype rpigmentation and in improving overall skin texture, without the occasional irritation associated with the use of alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic acid). Being lipid soluble and gentler it is effective in lower concentrations and it has also a role as an anti aging compound. This is a review article.
