Level of Physical Activity among Orphans Belonging to Lahore.

Objective: To describe the level of physical activity among orphans. Methods: A descriptive case series was conducted at SOS village, Al Jannat Orphanage and Edhi foundation, Lahore. Sixty-five orphans were recruited in the study between the ages of 8 to 14 years. All participants were male. The period of study was 6 months from July 2016 to December 2016. The sampling strategy utilized was convenience sampling. The level of physical activity among orphans was evaluated using Physical Activity Questionnaire for older children (PAQ-C). The study variables were presented in the form of descriptive statistics. Numeric data like age was presented in the form of mean ± standard deviation. And the qualitative data was presented in the form of frequency and percentages. Results: The mean age of orphans was 11 years. Out of sample of 65 participants, mean score of 37 orphans was between 1-1.5, mean score of 26 orphans was between 1.5 - 2 and mean score of 2 orphans was between 2 - 2.5. Physical Activity Summary Score of all means of all physical activities included in Physical Activity Questionnaire-Children was 1.47. Conclusion: Physical activity level was reported to be lowest among orphans with a mean score of 1.47.
